Radiographic imaging is essential in diagnosis, treatment planning and follow-up in endodontics. For this, several X-ray systems are present on the market. Conventional radiographs were considered to be the first-line modality used in odontological practice for various purposes. However, this type of X-ray has its limitations. Most of them are overcome with the advent of the Cone Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT) which is an emerging technology that provides high-quality, accurate three-dimensional (3D) representation of structures with a reduced irradiation dose compared to the traditional scanner. Clinical applications of this revolutionary asset have expanded to encompass endodontic practice, thus improving the diagnosis and management of many cases in this field.
