Résumé

Contexte : L'étude a comparé les performances cliniques d'un composite de résine nanohybride photopolymérisé, Natural Elegance (Henry Schein^®) à un composite de résine microhybride photopolymérisé, Natural Elegance (Henry Schein^®) dans la restauration des cavités occlusales et proximo-occlusales Population adulte nigériane.
Matériel et méthodes : Une étude clinique contrôlée aléatoire a été menée au Département de dentisterie restauratrice de l'hôpital universitaire de l'État de Lagos, à Ikeja, Etat de Lagos (LASUTH), sur 30 sujets avec quinze paires de cavités occlusales et 15 paires de cavités proximo-occlusales, en utilisant la technique "split-mouth". Les restaurations ont été évaluées immédiatement après le placement (ligne de base), 3 mois, 6 mois et 12 mois après l'opération pour la coloration, la décoloration marginale, la rugosité de surface, la forme anatomique, l'adaptation marginale, la rétention, la sensibilité post-opératoire et les caries secondaires. USPHS. L'analyse statistique a été effectuée en utilisant le test exact de Fisher pour chaque catégorie. Tous les tests statistiques ont été effectués à un niveau de signification de 5%.
Résultats : Un total de 30 restaurations occlusales et 30 prothèses proximo-occlusales ont été placées chez 20 femmes et 10 hommes, le taux de rappel des sujets était de 100%.Toutes les restaurations de composites de résine nanohybrides et microhybrides ont enregistré des scores alpha de 100% depuis la ligne de base jusqu'à 6 mois pour tous les paramètres sauf pour la concordance de couleurs avec 6,7% des restaurations de composite de résine microhybride enregistrant les scores de Bravo depuis la ligne de base jusqu'à la fin de la période de suivi. Il y avait une diminution des scores Alpha de 100% pour les autres paramètres à 12 mois. Le seul score de Charlie enregistré dans l'étude était pour la rétention due à la perte d'une restauration microhybride proximo-occlusal composite au 12e mois. Il n'y avait aucune différence statistiquement significative dans aucun des paramètres évalués pour les deux matériaux (P > 0,05).
Conclusion : Les performances cliniques du composite de résine nanohybride Natural Elegance (Henry Schein®) et du composite de résine microhybride Natural Elegance (Henry Schein®) ont été satisfaisantes dans la restauration des cavités occlusales et proximo-occlusales chez les adultes nigérians sur une période d'évaluation d'un an.

Abstract
Comparison of the clinical performance of a nanohybrid and a microhybrid resin composite in the restoration of posterior teeth in Nigerians

Background: The study compared the clinical performance of a light cured nanohybrid resin composite, Natural Elegance (Henry Schein^®) to a light cured microhybrid resin composite, Natural Elegance (Henry Schein^®) in the restoration of occlusal and proximo-occlusal cavities in a Nigerian adult population.
Materials and methods: A randomized controlled clinical study was conducted at Department of Restorative Dentistry, Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, Ikeja, Lagos State (LASUTH) on 30 subjects with fifteen pairs of occlusal cavities and 15 pairs of proximo-occlusal cavities, using a split mouth technique. The restorations were evaluated immediately after placement (baseline), 3 months, 6 months and 12 months post-operatively for colour match, marginal discolouration, surface roughness, anatomical form, marginal adaptation, retention, post-operative sensitivity and secondary caries using the modified USPHS criteria. Statistical analysis was performed using Fisher’s exact test for each category. All statistical tests were carried out at a 5% level of significance.
Results: A total of 30 occlusal and 30 proximo-occlusal restorations, were placed in 20 females and 10 males, subject recall rate was 100%. All nanohybrid and microhybrid resin composites restorations recorded 100% Alpha scores from baseline to 6 months for all parameters except for colour match with 6.7% of the microhybrid resin composite restorations recording Bravo scores from baseline till the end of the follow up period. There was a decrease in Alpha scores from 100% for other parameters at 12 months. The only Charlie score recorded in the study was for retention due to the loss of a microhybrid proximo-occlusal composite restoration at the 12th month. There was no statistically significant difference in any of the parameters evaluated for both materials (P > 0.05).
Conclusion: The clinical performance of Natural Elegance nanohybrid resin composite (Henry Schein®) and Natural Elegance microhybrid resin composite (Henry Schein®) were both satisfactory in the restoration of occlusal and proximo-occlusal cavities in Nigerian adults over a one-year evaluation period.
