Introduction : La qualité de vie liée au port de prothèse amovible est directement liée au niveau d’intégration psycho-fonctionnelle de cette prothèse qui est un processus complexe et multifactoriel. L’objectif de ce travail était d’évaluer la qualité de vie des patients réhabilités par prothèse amovible partielle métallique dans la clinique de l’Institut d’Odontologie-Stomatologie de Dakar.
Matériels et méthodes : L’étude était du type pilote et descriptive effectuée auprès de 31 patients de deux sexes. Ces patients porteurs de prothèses amovibles métalliques, étaient traités par des apprenants de Master sous la supervision des enseignants entre 2015 et 2019. Après rappel de tous les patients de cette période, les patients désireux à participer à cette étude ont été convoqués et le questionnaire du Geriatric Oral Health Index (GOHAI) était l’instrument de mesure de la qualité de vie de ces sujets. Deux opérateurs ont permis de recueillir des données de qualité de vie. L’analyse statistique a été faite par le logiciel SPSS version 23. Le risque d’erreur a été fixé à 5%.
Résultats : Cette étude montre que 32,3% des sujets réhabilités ont un score de GOHAI correspondant à une bonne qualité de vie orale QVO. Les prothèses amovibles partielles métalliques réalisées à l’Institut d’Odontologie - Stomatologie semblent être satisfaisantes et ont un impact positif sur la qualité de vie.
Conclusion : La réhabilitation des édentés partiels par prothèse amovible partielle métallique contribue à l’amélioration de qualité de vie et augmente le niveau de satisfaction.
Introduction: Oral health related to removable prosthesis wearing is directly linked to the level of psycho- functional integration of this latter which is a complex and multifactorial process. The objective of this work was to assess the quality of life of patients rehabilitated by removable metallic partial prosthesis in the clinic of the Institute of Odontology-Stomatology of Dakar.
Materials and methods: This study was of a pilot and descriptive type involving 31 patients of both sexes. These patients, who wore removable metal prostheses, were treated by Master's students under the supervision of teachers between 2015 and 2019. After recall of all patients from this period, patients who wished to participate in this study were recalled and the Geriatric Oral Health Index (GOHAI) questionnaire was the instrument used to measure the quality of life of these subjects. Quality of life data were collected by two operators. Statistical analysis was performed using SPSS version 23 software. The risk of error was set at 5%.
Results: This study shows that 32.3% of rehabilitated subjects have a GOHAI score corresponding to a good quality of life index. The removable partial metal prostheses produced at the Institute of Odontology-Stomatology seem to be satisfactory and have a positive impact on the quality of life.
Conclusion: The rehabilitation of the partially edentulous by removable metallic partial prosthesis contributes to the improvement of quality of life and increases the level of satisfaction.
