Abstract
Rehabilitation of a cheek defect: case report

The loss of facial substance is becoming more frequent because of the high prevalence of trauma and facial tumors. These defects cannot often benefit from a reconstruction by plastic surgery, for reasons of local contraindications in this case the appearance of signs of recurrence lesion, a therapeutic
complication either especially an osteoradionecrosis or the volume of the defect, as well as for general reasons by presence of pathology prohibiting any surgical operation. Prosthetic rehabilitation alone or combined with surgery seems to be a very effective therapeutic solution; it achieves results that are very satisfactory both aesthetically and functionally. The purpose of these prostheses, known as epithesis, is to reestablish as much as possible a commonplace image of the face that can help the patient to integrate socially. Through a clinical case taken care of at the Center of Consultation and Dental Treatment of Rabat, we will try to describe the different stages of realization of a jugular epithesis as well as their interest in the improvement of the quality of life of this patient.
