Abstract
Surgical management of excessive gingival display by a modified lip repositioning technique

The present paper describes a modification of the traditional lip repositioning surgery to correct Excessive Gingival Display (EGD). The main purpose of this modification is to maintain the lip position in the mesio-distal direction and then the lip symmetry to give an esthetic smile to the patient after surgery. In this paper, the modified surgical approach was used to treat two cases of EGD with 5 mm of gingival display during full smile due to a hyperactive lip. The clinical outcomes obtained were stable and showed that this modified surgical lip repositioning technique leaded to esthetically satisfactory results.
