Résumé

Le but de ce travail a été de comparer des mesures d’encombrement postérieur au niveau de l’arcade mandibulaire entre deux types d’examens radiographiques : la panoramique dentaire et le scanner dentaire. Cette étude a été menée sur un échantillon de 12 patients avant traitement orthodontique, avec une moyenne d’âge de 16 ± 4 ans. Ces patients présentaient un encombrement postérieur critique sur la radiographie panoramique dentaire ont accepté la prise d’un scanner dentaire pour revoir cet encombrement.
Pour réaliser cette étude, nous avons mesuré sur les radiographies panoramiques dentaires et les scanners dentaires de chaque patient l’espace disponible postérieur et l’espace nécessaire postérieur à la mandibule selon la technique de Merrifield et nous avons calculé l’encombrement postérieur pour chaque cas. La comparaison des deux variables a été réalisée en utilisant le Test t de Student.
Les résultats de notre étude montrent que :

• la radiographie panoramique dentaire majore l’encombrement dentaire postérieur et ceci par rapport au scanner dentaire (Student, p < 0.05).
• le pourcentage d’agrandissement de cet encombrement varie énormément entre 18 % et 73% avec une moyenne de 48.58 % ± 15,90.

Abstract
Comparative study of posterior footprint measures between the dental panoramic x-ray and dental scanner

The purpose of this work was to compare measurements of the posterior crowding in the mandibular arcade between two types of radiographic examinations: the dental panoramic one and the dental scanner. Our sample is composed of 12 patients before treatment orthodontic, with an average age of 16 ± 4 years. These patients presented an posterior crowding on dental panoramic radiography accepted the catch of a dental scanner to re-examine this crowding.
To make this study, we measured on dental panoramic radiographies and the dental scanners of each patient posterior available space and posterior necessary space according to the technique of Merrifield and we calculated the posterior crowding for each case. The comparison of the two variables was carried out by using the Test T of Student.
The results our study shows that :

• Dental panoramic radiography raises the posterior dental crowding when this compared to the dental scanner (Student, p < 0.05).
• The percentage of enlarging of this crowding varies enormously between 18 % and 73% with an average of 48.58 % ± 15, 90.
