Abstract
Pleomorphic adenoma of the accessory salivary glands: about a clinical case

Pleomorphic adenoma is a benign tumor of the accessory salivary glands, slow growing, progressive and susceptible to degeneration when neglected. Also called mixed tumor because of its dual epithelial and mesenchymal component, it sits electively on the soft veil or on the palatine vault and lip. Objectively, it is in the form of a rounded, painless mass, lifting the mucosa without destroying it, the increase in its size is done gradually, slowly, but inexorably. Its palatine localization is done by sparing the midline located on the median septum of the veil. Imaging is not meaningful for diagnosis; only a post-biopsy-excision histopathology allows to have a diagnosis of certainty. We report the case of a Cameroonian, housewife, and aged 74 years, referred to the Odontostomatology department of the District Hospital of the Green City and whose type II diabetic condition has complicated her care.
