Résumé

Objectif : Le but de notre étude était de faire le bilan de la pratique de la buccopharyngectomie transmandibulaire (BPTM) par les ORL au Sénégal.
Matériel et méthode : Il s’agissait d’une étude rétrospective portant sur 24 malades opérés par BPTM dans les services universitaires d’ORL de l’hôpital Aristide Le Dantec et de l’hôpital Général de Grand Yoff de Dakar, de 1986 à 2006.
Résultats : La série était composée de 18 hommes et 6 femmes. La majorité (91,66 %) était classée T3T4. 75 % des patients avaient un ganglion palpable. La radiothérapie post opératoire était faite dans 37,5 %. Le délai moyen d’ablation de la sonde naso-gastrique était de 23,75 jours. 50 % des patients étaient perdus de vue.
Conclusion : La BPTM est une bonne intervention carcinologique pour des lésions de la paroi latérale de l’oropharynx et de la cavité buccale postérieure.

Summary
The transmandibulary buccopharyngectomy : about 24 cases at Ent department of the University Teaching Hospital of Dakar

Objective: The aim of our study is to improve the practice of transmandibulary buccopharyngectomy (BPTM) in Senegalese ORL services.
Material and methods : It was about a retrospective study dealing with 24 cases of BPTM done in the University services of Aristide Le Dantec hospital, Grand Yoff general Hospital from 1986 to 2006.
Results: The series was composed of 18 men and 6 women. The major part (91.66%) was codified T3T4. 75% of the patients had a node. The post chirurgical radiotherapy was done on 37.5%. The dead line mean of amputation of the naso-gastric tube was estimated to 23.75 days. 50% of the patients have disappeared.
Conclusion: The BPTM is a good carcinological intervention for lesions of the lateral cavity of the oropharynx and the posterior mouth cavity.
